The mandate.

I keep remembering last year how there were a bunch of people crowing over the mandate that the American electorate had given by returning to the Democrats control of the House and a gain of 5 seats in the Senate.

Everyone was talking about a groundswell of change that would sweep our country - my question a year later is: what happened?

The reason I ask is because it sure seems like business as usual. Considering all the rhetoric that was thrown around prior to and immediately after the election it speaks volumes about the effectiveness of the current Congress, don’t you think?
